You need to S.U.R.V.I.V.E.
Exploring your new world will expose you to new dangers. An aggressive mob will come after you and your hearts will go down. You need to learn what it means to S.U.R.V.I.V.E.
Size up the Situation
Use your senses to get a feel for your environment. What are mobs doing? Advancing to your position? Holding in place? Moving away from you? You will have to consider what is developing in your environment when you make your survival plan.
Size up Your Surroundings
Determine the pattern of the area. Get a feel for what is going on around you. Every environment -- whether forest, jungle, desert, etc. -- has a rhythm or pattern. This rhythm or pattern includes animal (passive mob) and movement sounds.
Size up Your Physical Condition
The pressure of battle or the trauma of being in a survival situation may have caused your hearts to go severely low. Always monitor your health and give yourself aid when you can. You can take potions or make sure you have eaten. When you are full, your hearts do regenerate slowly. Take care to prevent further bodily harm.
Size up Your Equipment
Perhaps in the heat of battle, you lost or damaged some of your equipment. Check to see what equipment you have and what condition it is in. Try to keep spare materials, equipment, and a workbench.
Now that you have sized up your situation, surroundings, physical condition, and equipment, you are ready to make your survival plan. Keep in mind your basic physical needs-- water, food, and shelter.

Use All Your Senses, Undue Haste Makes Waste
You may make a wrong move when you react quickly without thinking or planning. That move may result in your death. Don't move just for the sake of taking action. Consider all aspects of your situation (size up your situation) before you make a decision and a move. If you act in haste, you may forget or lose some of your equipment. In your haste, you may also become disoriented. Plan your moves; be ready to move out quickly without endangering yourself if mob are near you. Use all of your senses to evaluate the situation. Be sensitive and observant to your surroundings.
Creepers may senselessly find and explode on you, but you can think your way out of the situation.

Remember Where You Are
Remember your surroundings. Spot your location on your map and relate it to the surrounding terrain(s). If you are in a group, travel craft, etc., make sure everyone's position is known in the group. If someone in the group dies, you will have to get the vital materials that they drop. Pay close attention to where you are and to where you are going. Do not rely on others in the group to keep track of the route. Constantly orient yourself. Always try to determine, as a minimum, how your location relates to:

- The location of mobs and controlled areas.

- The location of local water and food sources.
- Areas that will provide good cover, concealment, and light.
Vanquish Fear and Panic
The greatest enemies in a combat survival and evasion situation are fear and panic. If uncontrolled, they can destroy your ability to make wise decisions. They may cause you to react to your feelings and imagination rather than to your situation. They can drain your energy and thereby cause other negative emotions. Previous survival and evasion training and self-confidence will enable you to vanquish fear and panic.

Improvise
In your world, there are many items readily available for your needs. All of these items rely on you using resources from your surroundings. In tight situations and through the duration of your exploration, you will need to learn to improvise.
For example, as long as you have trees nearby, you can create a workbench and make wooden tools. Wood isn't the strongest material to use for mining or fending off mob, but it can help you mine other resources like cobblestone to make stronger, more durable tools for survival.

Value Living
When you've died in your world for whatever reason, you lose everything in your pockets and you're re-spawned to your original spawn location. In any situation, you want to make the choice to live, no matter how stressful, uncomfortable, or difficult it may prove to be. In the game, you'll have to learn to be stubborn. You'll have to refuse to give in to problems and obstacles that you face. Sometimes you may be forced to re-spawn, and you'll have to push forward and continue surviving.

Act Like the Natives
The natives and animals of a region have adapted to their environment. To get a feel of the area, find villages. Doing so means finding resources and being able to trade for unique items. Animals could lead you to larger groups which could be a food resource or companions for taming. Knowing the day cycle, how shady the environment is, could allow you to avoid encountering mob. Other animals and a lot of movement could attract mob to you.
Interacting with villagers could help you gain resources and increase your ability to survive on your journey. Villagers often cannot protect themselves, though, so if you come across a village in need, you should consider aiding them.

Live by Your Wits, But for Now, Learn the Basic Skills
Without training in basic skills for surviving and evading mobs in the wild, your chances of living through attacks are little to none. Learn these basic skills now, not when you're exploring and mobs find you. You will need to know about the environment you're exploring. You must practice basic skills geared towards survival. Survival training reduces fear of the unknown and gives you self-confidence. It teaches you to live by your wits.

Pattern for Survival
Develop a survival pattern that lets you beat the mob for survival. This survival pattern must include food, water, shelter, fire, first aid, and signals placed in order of importance. You need shelter to protect you from the environment and from mob. If injured, you must take immediate action to make sure your health bar goes up.
Change your survival pattern to meet your immediate physical needs as the environment changes. As you venture into your world and read more on this website, keep in mind the keyword, S.U.R.V.I.V.A.L., and the need for a survival pattern.
